Offroad Design Bolt-In Steering Box Frame Brace for 1973-1991 4WD GMC/Chevy Full-Size
Frame cracks behind the steering box have been a weak point of the squarebody trucks from the beginning. One of our earliest products was a bolt on brace to stiffen and strengthen that area of the frame and it’s done the job very well for 25+ years. Over the years, we found a few details to improve so we recently redesigned this iconic piece to be even better. This new version has a pass through hole for factory oil cooler lines, increased clamping force and clamping area on the crossmember and a stiffer channel design. The thing that hasn’t changed is the frame saving strength addition to this highy stressed area of the frame. This brace spreads the steering load to the crossmember and triangulates that corner of the frame to keep it stiffer. In fact, you can often feel the tighter steering response when you drive. This is a part every squarebody truck needs, regardless of how it’s being used.
Key Details:
-Bolt-in item, requires drilling one hole
-Fits any squarebody 4wd GM from 73-91. (not the 88-91 IFS pickups)
-If your frame is 4wd, this is the correct brace, even if you’re using a 2wd box for crossover steering
